Signs of life in European junk bonds

Signs of life in the European junk bond market have emerged for the first time in more than a year, following a move by US banks to sell bonds issued by a Dutch technology company.

But there remain doubts about whether the sale of the bonds, which were sold in recent weeks at a near 20 per cent discount to face value, has re-opened the market for riskier issuers following the global credit crunch.
