‘Deep pockets will facilitate changes’

As he prepared to walk out the door on Thursday, Richard Zannino, outgoing chief executive of Dow Jones, expressed confidence that the company’s new owners would bring a more aggressive, risk-taking posture to the publisher of the Wall Street Journal.

Under Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, which is expected to complete its $5bn acquisition of Dow Jones next week, Mr Zannino said the media company will be able to draw on deep pockets to make a series of necessary changes.
