Controversy over Merrill’s bonuses spreads

The controversy in the US over Merrill Lynch’s reluctance to divulge information about its bonus pool has flared up on the other side of the world – in a small hearing room at Hong Kong’s labour tribunal.

A tribunal judge on Monday warned the US investment bank, acquired in January by Bank of America following an agreement in September, that it would face pressure to reveal bonus payments to 50 Asia-based managing directors.
