Morgan Tsvangirai was on Sunday night waiting to learn whether the biggest gamble of his bruising career as the leader of Zimbabwe’s opposition would pay off – or whether he would once again be thwarted by his adversary, Robert Mugabe.
As Mr Mugabe prepared to have himself sworn in for a fourth term as president, Mr Tsvangirai sought to stiffen the resolve of African leaders who now hold his fate in their hands.
