Treasuries gain as Fed eases inflation fears

US Treasury bond prices recovered early losses on Tuesday and moved higher after the Federal Reserve raised rates as expected but did not play up inflation concerns.

Traders said the rate rise, which took the Fed funds rate to 2.25 per cent, was expected. Bonds had, however, sold off ahead of the meeting on fears that the Fed could highlight rising inflation and perhaps signal a faster pace of monetary tightening.
