Continental Airlines cuts jobs and aircraft

Continental Airlines is cutting jobs, sharply reducing domestic capacity and removing the oldest aircraft from its fleet, as it struggles to cope with record fuel prices.

US airlines are being hardest hit by the crisis engulfing the global aviation industry and are being forced to shrink their operations drasticallly to cope with mounting losses. Leading carriers including American Airlines and United Airlines have already announced deep cuts in their operations.
