Autumn ruling on Northern Rock aid

Europe’s antitrust authorities will not reach a decision until the autumn on whether to approve aid given under EU state aid guidelines to Britain’s Northern Rock.

The European Commission said on Wednesday that, for procedural reasons, there was no possibility of an approval being granted before the summer break at the end of July.
