Discounts boost Laura Ashley’s sales

Large discounts on its floral frocks and furnishings have boosted revenues at Laura Ashley, as the company pursued sales at the expense of margins in the recession.

The group said promotions, which included selling some ranges at half price, had been one of the reasons that like-for-like sales rose 6.9 per cent in the 17 weeks to May.
