The ripple effect of soaring oil costs swept over south Asia on Tuesday, with Nepal’s government becoming the latest to brave protest with a big increase in state-set fuel prices.
Pakistan is expected to signal “the need to adjust domestic prices with international prices” when the government releases its budget on Wednesday, according to a senior official. An increase of more than 10 per cent is under consideration. “The price increase would be delivered without prior warning,” the official said.
