Australia to get tough on short selling

Fears of market destabilisation has driven Australia to devise the world’s toughest disclosure rules for short selling by forcing investors to reveal their daily stock lending and short sales.

The new rules have put the corporate regulator on a collision course with the funds management industry which claims that short fund managers are being pushed out of the market.
