Nato must find a fix in Afghanistan

At their 2006 summit in Riga, Nato leaders pledged to provide “the forces, resources, and flexibility needed” to ensure success for the alliance’s mission in Afghanistan.

Today, that success is far from assured, partly because the mission lacks combat troops. It is time for all Nato leaders to make good on their pledges and provide troops with minimal operational restrictions so they can be deployed where most needed.
