TNT express hit by slowdown

TNT, the Dutch postal group, yesterday reported a 32 per cent fall in third-quarter net profit to €113m ($145m) as the global economic slowdown hit its express delivery services.

The group, which earlier this month warned that it expected pressure on its European express business to continue into the fourth quarter, said its premium air service was hard hit, with volumes falling an "unprecedented" 10 per cent in September.
