Stargazers win Nobel for ironing out wrinkles in time

This year’s Nobel Prize for physics has been awarded to two US cosmologists for their work shedding light on the origin and evolution of the universe.

The winners are Prof George Smoot, who has worked at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory since 1970 and Dr John Mather, a senior astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
