Yukos has filed a suit in a New York court that claims Rosneft, the Russian state company that took over the oil company, secretly exercises control over Gunvor, the oil trader that rose from obscurity in 2003 to become the world’s third-biggest seller of oil.

The suit filed this week by a Luxembourg-based Yukos subsidiary, Yukos Capital, against Rosneft is seeking enforcement in a New York court of a $389.3m award granted earlier this year by a Dutch court that Rosneft has not paid.
