Billionaire creates Harvard institute

The US public education system, once considered the “great equaliser” in US life, is failing its students and multibillionaire Eli Broad wants to do something about it.

Mr Broad, who made his fortune in the property and insurance businesses, has announced the creation of an education research institute at Harvard that will focus on public schools.
