Free market presses capitalist advocate

Agora is one of capitalist Poland’s biggest local icons, the publisher of the country’s first free newspaper whose appearance marked the demise of communism. But the market economy that Agora helped bring in is now giving the company a beating.

The reason is increasing competition in the national newspaper market, where Gazeta Wyborcza, the company’s flagship paper, is one of the leading titles.
