Australia tweaks media ownership bill

Australia‘s coalition government significantly amended its planned overhaul of the country’s media ownership rules Tuesday, after some of its lawmakers threatened to vote against the media reform.

The government’s most important concession is a new limit on a company owning only two types of media outlet in any metropolitan or regional market, rather than being allowed to build a presence across newspapers, television and radio.
