Sex net domain arouses wrath of religious right

Countries led by the US, under pressure from the religious right, have raised last-minute objections to the approval of a new .xxx internet domain for pornographic websites.

In a letter to Vint Cerf, chairman of the internet's governing body, the US Commerce Department said it had been sent an unprecedented volume of correspondence opposed to the creation of the .xxx top-level domain (TLD).
