Japanese PM’s support plunges

Yasuo Fukuda, Japan’s prime minister, has suffered a sharp drop in his popularity less than three months into his tenure, highlighting public discontent with his lack of leadership and mishandling of key issues.

Support for the Fukuda cabinet plunged to 33 per cent this month, from 57 per cent when he took office in September, according to a poll published yesterday by the Mainichi newspaper.
