Somalia permits foreign attack on pirates

The Russian and US navies have been given permission by Somalia’s interim government to use force against the pirates who have hijacked a ship laden with 33 tanks and other military hardware.

The Ukrainian vessel, the MV Faina, remained cornered on Wednesday by several US warships that have been monitoring the pirates’ activity since Sunday.
