Martin Rapaport: ‘The time has come for a mass market in sparklers’

Martin Rapaport, founder of the Rapaport Diamond Trading Network, is on a mission to see diamonds fully commoditised so that people can buy them in the same way they buy gold.

Mr Rapaport, an American entrepreneur and an early proponent of the Kimberley certification process aimed at ensuring the transparency of sales of rough diamonds from conflict zones, proposed his first diamond futures contract in 1982.
