Huge discrepancy in bank charges across EU

Bank customers across Europe face pricing terms that are so opaque that it is “almost impossible for customers to know how much they are paying”, the European Commission said on Tuesday.

An in-depth report into bank fees across the EU, drawn up by independent consultants at the request of Brussels officials, also pointed to a huge discrepancy in the level of fees charged for the most basic services – such as current accounts – between different countries.
