Solid results on Wall Street cheer Asia

Asia-Pacific markets got some much-needed cheer on Thursday after US companies including JP Morgan, Coca-Cola and IBM unveiled resilient results overnight and a fresh record for oil prices spurred resources stocks.

Rallying resources stocks drew fresh impetus as oil reached a new record in Asia above $115 per barrel before pushing further above that mark in early European trading.
