Exports rise fuels hopes of Taiwan recovery

Taiwan's exports hit a six-month high in May, fuelling hopes of an early recovery for the export-oriented island economy on the back of closer economic ties with China.

May exports were nearly 9 per cent up on April, although they were still 31.4 per cent lower than a year ago, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance yesterday.
