No pain, no gain: an end to energy dependency

For centuries Georgia has been a trading route linking Europe to Asia. In the past two years the mountainous republic has emerged as a strategic transit corridor for pipelines carrying Caspian oil and natural gas to the West.

The new pipelines have helped Georgia reduce its own dependence on Russian gas and establish itself as a guarantor of western energy security.
