Scotland’s water watchdog firm on price

Investors in water companies should not continue to expect the levels of dividends received in the past, according to the head of Scotland’s water regulator.

“Shareholders have benefited from very high dividends in recent years, but there’s no rule that says they have to be as high as that,” said Alan Sutherland, chief executive of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland. “The job of a regulator is to see through what the industry wants.”
