Drugs panel at risk of collapse

The government's advisory body on illegal drugs risks collapsing under fresh resignations after the home secretary sacked its chairman for criticising the tough policy on cannabis.

In a letter circulating on Monday, many of the remaining 28 members of the Advisory Committee on the Misuse of Drugs demanded a meeting with Alan Johnson amid "serious concerns" about future handling of their advice.
