OFT refuses to lift trading ban on LME

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading on Thursday refused to lift an interim ruling that prevented the London Metal Exchange from extending its electronic trading hours, even though the company that helped bring about the temporary ban asked for its withdrawal.

Spectron Group, an energy and metals broker, asked the OFT to withdraw its interim measures because they attracted negative publicity in the market and restricted liquidity.
