Shire, the FTSE 100 drug company, extended losses since the turn of the year to almost 18 per cent on concerns about Vyvanse, its most important new product.
Vyvanse is the successor to Adderall XR, Shire’s blockbuster treatment for hyperactivity disorder. As such its performance is key to the company’s fortunes, especially as Adderall goes off-patent in April 2009.
