Premier League hit by 50% tax rate

Premier League football clubs are struggling to attract foreign talent during the summer transfer window because of the new 50 per cent tax rate on high earners and sterling’s weakness, according to new research from Deloitte’s Sport Business Group.

Wage demands from players are 70 per cent higher than some of the Premier League’s main European rivals, as their agents insist on pay increases to compensate for the tax increase and currency fluctuations.
