President Dmitry Medvedev says Russia is committed to joining the World Trade Organisation despite hold-ups and confusion caused by its plans to bid for membership in partnership with Kazakhstan and Belarus.

“We will join the WTO, despite some delays connected with the formation of the customs union [with Kazakhstan and Belarus]. There is no doubt about this,” the president told a meeting of Russian businessmen in the Kremlin on Wednesday.
