Acambis has gained ground in the race to develop a universal pandemic flu vaccine after it unveiled positive trial results.

Trials showed its vaccine against all ‘A’ strains of the virus was well tolerated, the biotechnology group said on Thursday, although immunity increased when used with an immunological agent made by Antigenics.
