Mol, the Hungarian energy company, played down security concerns on Wednesday as it began production at a gas field in Pakistan’s restive North West Frontier Province.

The company has a 10 per cent stake in the Tal block, 30km from the Afghan border and in a region that has seen months of fighting between the Pakistan army and Taliban militants.
