UK house prices fall 8.7% in 2008

House prices fell by an average 8.7 per cent this year, with London, East Anglia and the south-east the hardest hit.

But the rate of decline in December slowed compared with previous months, according to figures out on Monday from Hometrack, the provider of housing market data.
