Sales of roof boxes have soared at Halfords, the car parts and bike retailer, as Britons gear up for travelling to holiday destinations in the UK.

David Wild, chief executive, said sales of roof boxes were up 70 per cent in the past six weeks, compared with the year-earlier period.
