Of all the heads of state at the G8 summit, the spotlight will be trained perhaps most on Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s new president.
His counterparts still have plenty of questions about the 42-year-old. Does he mean what he says about strengthening the rule of law and fighting corruption in Russia? Why did the former president, Vladimir Putin, choose him as his successor? And who is really in charge of Russia – Mr Medvedev, or his mentor Mr Putin, now the prime minister?
