Politics tempers battle for car factory

Beijing should not interfere in a decision by Renault, the French carmaker, on the location of a car factory in China, according to Lin Shusen, a senior Communist party official.

"The company has the right to make the decision [itself]," Mr Lin, party secretary of the southern city of Guangzhou, said. "The central government should not interfere with the decision-making process."
