Milk prices reduce Parmalat profits by 18%

Cappuccino-drinkers and milk lovers will soon be paying for a sharp drop in the share price of Italy’s Parmalat dairy group, which reported an 18 per cent drop in first-quarter profits.

Parmalat, releasing its results on Thursday, said it had been forced to delay passing on to the consumer the impact of soaring raw milk prices because of fixed-sale terms in the first quarter.
