Business customers boost Travelodge

Cost-conscious business customers are trading down to cheaper accommodation, according to Travelodge, the budget hotel chain, as it reported a surge in bookings.

The company, which runs 381 hotels in the UK, Spain and Ireland, reported a 30 per cent increase in revenue from business travellers in the year to January, adding an unexpected fillip to a chain that has traditionally relied on leisure customers.
