Thailand: Risk of contagion downplayed

When Thailand’s military seized power on Tuesday, it served as a reminder of the often unexpected risks that go hand in hand with investing in the emerging markets.

The coup was the second shock to hit emerging markets this week. Investors were already on edge about rioting in Hungary in the wake of the prime minister’s admission that he had lied about the economy’s health.
