Debt charities warn on lenient lenders

Homeowners who have fallen behind with their mortgage payments are benefiting from an increasingly lenient attitude from lenders who want to avoid repossessing properties in all but the most extreme circumstances.

But debt charities are still seeing a sharp rise in the number of people missing mortgage payments and have voiced concerns that a larger problem could be brewing.
