Independent News & Media has agreed a financial restructuring with its bondholders after months of negotiations that will see the lenders take control of the publisher.

The talks raised the possibility of selling INM’s 13.5 per cent stake in Jagran Prakashan, the Indian newspaper group. The holding is worth about €60m (£55m) at the current market price. INM’s banks have yet formally to agree to the restructuring plan.
