Minimum wage deal for German post workers

Postal workers in Germany are from next year to receive a legally binding minimum wage of up to €9.80 ($14.50, £7) an hour under an agreement struck on Thursday by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ruling coalition.

The deal, which follows months of haggling between Ms Merkel’s Christian Democrats and the Social Democrats, her coalition allies, represents a clear victory for the SPD, which has campaigned for minimum wages as a means of rallying the party’s flagging support.
