Conflict rare in recession

An unofficial strike by 1,200 construction workers at Lindsey oil refinery in Lincolnshire continued on Tuesday after talks aimed at breaking the deadlock failed to get under way. Total, the plant’s, owner said discussions could not begin until there was a return to work.

In spite of disputes such as this and others at London Underground and the London postal service, conflict between companies and employees has so far been much lower in this recession than in previous ones, according to a report.
