Iranians have welcomed the victory of Barack Obama in the US presidential elections, expressing hope that he will improve relations between Tehran and Washington.

“I think Obama is much better than McCain. He may help the restoration of Iran-US ties, especially as we know Iran’s presidential elections are coming up (next year) as well,” said 27-year-old Rasoul, a PHD student.
