EU foreign ministers pledged on Monday to look at ways in which sanctions against Burma could be toughened in the wake of the country’s treatment of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Meeting in Brussels, ministers strongly condemned the treatment of Suu Kyi, and called for her immediate release.
