Petrol profit margins could signal time to buy

Refiners have seen an unprecedented slump in their profit margins for producing petrol as demand for fuel has been hit by weak consumer spending and a collapse in new car sales.

Refiners’ profit margins are known in the oil industry as “crack spreads”.
