Weak demand slows Taiwan’s growth

Taiwan’s economic growth slowed sharply in the second quarter on weak domestic sentiment, and will drop further in the second half as the global slowdown starts to eat into exports, the government said on Friday.

The numbers follow similar dips reported by Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong last week and point up the challenge facing export-driven Asian economies.
