Offshore tax proposals may deter carbon credit trading

London-based hedge fund managers may be deterred from trading in instruments such as carbon emission credits and property indices by UK government proposals to tighten the rules on taxing offshore funds, it is claimed.

However, claims that the proposals could result in UK-based hedge fund managers upping sticks en masse and heading for more liberal offshore centres have been downplayed.
