Microsoft’s non-compliance with 2004’s European Commission anitrust ruling earned it another fine of €280.5m this week on top of the record €497m penalty that the regulator originally imposed.

“The European Commission cannot allow such illegal conduct to continue indefinitely. No company is above the law,” said Neelie Kroes, the EU competition commissioner.
